Armstrong is located at the end of Highway 527, 252 km (150 miles) north of Thunder Bay and is best known for it’s proximity to beautiful Wabakimi Provincial Park.
Wabakimi Provincial Park boasts stunning landscapes, and with over 2,000 kilometres of lake and river routes, it is a premier destination for backcountry camping, wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting and wilderness canoeing. The lands within and around Wabakimi are traditional areas for several Indigenous communities, and the park itself is rich in cultural history.
Caribou Lake, located in Wabakimi Provincial Park is located approximately 12 km down Caribou Lake Road from the town of Armstrong. This spectacular lake with it’s 40 thousand acres of water and 4,500 km of shoreline, offers some of the best fishing in Northern Ontario and is home to many species of fish including, trophy Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout, Sturgeon, White Fish, Perch, White Suckers, and various baitfish.
